Return to the classic original classic MU experience? No. This goes back farther.
This is a stripped down early MU experience based on the old 0.32 era feature set. Simple. Coherent. Mean. More like a 3D Diablo-style dungeon crawler.
No handholding. No wussy features. Struggle to survive.
A very custom server with a restricted old feature set, built to bring back the early dark feel of MU instead of turning it into a theme park.
Modeled off the oldest available 0.32 version of MU and its early content style.
The weak convenience stuff is stripped out. You are supposed to feel pressure and danger again.
Built on OpenMU server and the MU Online Clone client project instead of leaked proprietary Webzen sources.
We do not expect or want you to blindly trust us. Too many private servers ask you to run sketchy clients and mystery DLLs.
UNK MU gives you the source path so you can compile your own client. A ready-to-play client may also be offered using original replacement assets for legal reasons.
The brutal front-line class. Steel, pressure, and survival.
The fragile caster. Range, power, and danger.
Maintains only the core 0.32 style content set.
Content added over time at predictable intervals.
Where seasonal characters end up so progress is not lost.
Permadeath in MU. Enough said.
Content will be added gradually, more like the game’s original development path.
This server and client are being actively developed through the underlying OpenMU technology and through direct custom work by UNK TEAM.
Later there will be more info on how to be part of UNK TEAM and help develop this project and others.
This is not like other servers. There will be bugs. Stability is not guaranteed.
This is for people who want something rough, weird, and dangerous. Cowards need not apply.
Closed beta starts with 50 players. That number can grow later as the project gets traction.
UNK MU is a non-profit educational and fan project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Webzen.
The server and client codebase used here are open source projects built from scratch and not based on leaked proprietary Webzen source code.
We do not claim ownership of MU Online or its trademarks or original proprietary game assets.
Users can compile their own client, or use a client build with original replacement graphics and other replacement assets for legal reasons.
